Been keeping poultry for many years and the best thing I’ve found is the old real Creosote, they certainly don’t like it. Take care how to use it , best on an hot day leave doors open to dry off , ok for spot application. Anyone with other solutions?

Using creosote we've found it is best diluted 50:50 with paraffin because it soaks in and dries more quickly. But it is dangerous stuff which will burn in skin contact, so never use it on the top of perches. Be very careful when applying because just breathing the fumes will make you very ill (I know from experience). We always leave it to dry until the smell/fumes have nearly vanished, so perhaps two weeks with the door(s) open. This means finding your hens alternative accommodation for that period.

A better alternative in the coop is a fine jet steam cleaner- you can hear them pop in the joints of the woodwork. You will have to do it more than once though.
