..... And replaced her with a really friendly, bold chirpy girl than has been sat on the arm of my garden chair eating titbits and chatting all afternoon. Quite astounding!
Ever since getting Nancy, she's refused every attempt I've ever made to tame her or get friendly with me. She's struggled at every attempt to pick her up and stays just out of finger reach, even when eating out of my hand. However, since losing Mildred, she's been my little shadow and when I had soup and a roll at the garden table today, she popped up to sit on the arm, then stayed there, finally ending up on my lap for most of the afternoon. She didn't stay all the time, but whenever I returned to the seat, she popped up and chirruped away to me, obviously very pleased with herself about something.
Poor thing, she's obviously in need of therapy.... But been a magical afternoon for me.
:D

We had a similar experience with little Daffodil, who had to be brought in with badly swollen feet. She was very shy before and very bullied. Separating her transformed her character and she became very tame and talkative. Eventually she hated going out with the other hens and preferred to live in the house with us and Bottom.

Awww, bless !

We have had our own magical moment this morning.
Yesterday evening, just before shutting up time, there was thrashings in the undergrowth and much quacking and alarming.
Oh no !
I rushed out to give chase to whatever, but it took a route through the undergrowth of brambles and allsorts so I couldnt follow.
We were left with a lone drake quacking his head off in the middle of the lawn, Mrs Duck was nowhere to be seen :(
Waited till fully dark but no sign of her, so reluctantly shut poor Norman in the house alone, and vowed to give up poultry keeping free in the garden.

This morning we awoke to "quack" , , , "quack" , , , "where is my Norman, quack quack"
Yep, she has returned looking none the worse for her night out !
