Please can you help?
One of my girls is laying soft shelled eggs. I have provided oyster shell bits, but it has happened for the last 2 days. She is only a year old. Do I need to worry yet?
Thank you

What breed of hen is she, Clucking Chicks, and has she been laying continuously for some time, or is she perhaps just coming back into lay?
If you are sure she has had a balanced diet and all her supplements etc and is otherwise in good health, there's nothing much you can do for the time being except to observe her over the next week or two. Do let us know how she gets on.

We've had hybrids go through that phase often. If all the others are laying OK it's her, not the diet. Can be a sunlight deficiency but not at this time of year I would have thought, unless she never comes out of the coop. We had a Bluebell that didn't come out much. Her comb is very dark as well, but when she came out and the sun shone the problem went for a while.

She is a warren and lays really well usually. Doris is her usual self , out in the run, scratching around. No other signs of anything amiss. Will watch carefully and see how she goes.
Thanks for your advice!
