I am always a bit closeted about publicly admitting my passion for the sport of snooker for fear of appearing a bit nerdy. But tonight the final and deciding frame between Wilson nd McGill was the most extraordinary thing I have ever seen in any sport. My heart goes out to both these combatants and they’re emotionalism was completely understandable. For those with an interest in such things watch this frame on catch up.
I would like to thank both these players for the most amazing thing I have ever seen in any sport.
Though I might have to take a Valium!

Oh, you've brought back memories! My dad was a big fan of snooker on tv. Used to watch all the televised matches (snooker wasn't really a "thing" here in those days). I could never see how he could follow it, in the days of b&w tv!

I seem to remember a quote from those days,
“For those watching in black and white the green ball is the one just behind the pink ball”.
One thing I’ve noticed of late is that many of the comperes and pundits don’t seem to realise that in China the family name precedes the individual name. Fortunately the referees are clued up on this.

It was popular enough at one time to get this abomination to number 6 in the UK charts.

OH God I had forgotten that, now it is going to be going round and round in my head all day

This is right up their with the Birdie Song dinosaur. And Steve Davis, who is actually a brilliant commentator, must be cringing with embarrassment whenever he sees himself in it.

The novelty does wear off after a while though.
Remember seeing Chas and Dave a few years ago. Some friends of ours have a box at O2 arena, and we get offered left over freebie tickets. They were the warm up act before the Moody Blues. Most bizarre sighting at the O2 was Bruce Forsyth in the next box, rocking away to Iron Maiden :o :o

Which right said Fred ? group or the Bernard Cribbins song.
O God Jedward there doesn't appear to be an emoji hex to go after them

I’d forgotten all about the Bernard Cribbins song. So no, I meant the group. I’m sure if I put my mind to it I could think of a whole raft of people. I mean what was Chico time all about.
By contrast I think they’re are others who were never recognised for their excellence. Right up there were Eric Burden and the Animals.

The Animals!, from my home town. Chas Chandler was instrumental in building the Newcastle Arena. I think they've got more respect in the US, where We've Gotta Get Out of This Place was a huge anthem and still has resonance today due to it's popularity with the troops in Vietnam which means it crops up in films. Still, when you were contemporary with the Stones, the Beatles and the Kinks there was always a decent chance you would end up overshadowed.

I guessed you meant the group Hen-Gen.
The Bernard Cribbins song reminded me of my dad singing to us the Ying Ton song by the Goons, and she wears Red Feathers by Guy Mitchell. We used to fall about laughing when he sang I am a mole and I live in a hole.
The Animals a great group vastly underrated.

My mum had her ears pierced when she was 40 and didn't tell any of us, just waited to see if we noticed the little gold sleeper rings. We didn't, so she went around singing "I am a mole and I live in hole", emphasising the word "hole" and shaking her head at us until one of us saw the rings!

Quite agree bout The Animals.

There's a hole in my bucket was another one. I wish I still had all those old 78s. I remember him playing Eddie Calvert "Cherry Pink and Apple Blossom White" I thought it was lovely. Joan Sutherland singing O mia Babbino Caro which he loved and we had played at his funeral

The shame of it. Still it can all be blamed on youth. My first was Little Drummer Boy by the Beverley Sisters.
My most recent purchase ie two days ago, was Shahen-Shah by Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan. Can’t understand a word of it because it’s in Urdu or some similar language but it’s stunning so I hope my tastes have improved.

When we were kids, my dad used to have a recording of "peter & the wolf". Can't remember the details of it (although I think the recording must still be at mum's), but it was a story with music.
Ah. This would be it! https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Peter_and_the_Wolf

We had that I can still hum the tune. I had forgotten all about it.
Our Little Drummer Boy was Bing Crosby

Remember the Little Drummer Boy sung by Bing Crosby and David Bowie? Absolute classic!
