Hello all,

I've noticed recently my cream legbar has been dosing off during the day, and wondered if this is normal? She seems fine otherwise, she's just developed her beautiful red wattles and we're hoping it won't be too long before she lays (hoping with every brighter day!). She's eating and drinking fine.

We have introduced 3 new hens and moved them into a new hen house, so I thought maybe this might explain her lack of sleep :-)12 .

Any thoughts?

if she is well otherwise, I wouldnt worry too much, they do doze abit in the day I find.
I suppose its a sign they feel safe....

Well that's good news, and if I'm honest if I had a chance I'd have an afternoon nap too!

Many thanks for the reply.

yeah, if she is otherwise healthy she should be fine.

checking her for lice or mites would be worth doing if you havent already and worming her would give her an M.O.T. if her nose is dry and her chest isnt rattling and no back end problems she shud be ok xx

Sorry I know I post this a few weeks ago, but she seems to be getting worse :-)09 . It's like she almost has Narcolepsy  . I was in the pen with her this morning and she nearly fell over for sleeping. When I went over to her she looked very miffed I'd woken her and legged it across the other side. She's taken to having afternoon naps in the nest boxes, she's only just started laying (2 eggs so far) but that was over week ago.

She's just been wormed (I do them twice a year) and there are no other obvious signs - she's eating well etc.

Any ideas?
