sleeping habbits

hiya!! my chick now 9wks old has started setteling dwn for the night on top of her hen house on the rim of a bucket that i keep on top!! (for cleaning etc) every evening when i go out to shut her in shes up there?! she seems to prefer it to the perch in her house? could there b a reason behind this?? am i doin summat wrong?? any ideas ??!! :? x x
 
thanks for your reply!! ill try that although i have only recently cleaned it all and put mite powder in b4 i brought her hm! could it b anything to do with temperature i was wondering if it was too warm in the coop 4 her? or i also thought it mite b to do with hight? do chickens like to b up high? the others go in to there coop by thereselves near to dusk! sorry im just clutching at ideas now ill try cleaning and mite stuff again x x x thnkyou :) x x
 
You are not doing anything wrong, it is just somewhere else for her to go. she/he may alsogo up there because of predators, such as wild birds, cats, dogs, etc.

Hi there, normally they all follow each other like sheep into the house when it gets dusk. Is this the only chick, as maybe that has something to do with it as my girls do fight abit over positions and it could be that the little girl is scared. :-)05
