hi , i come from india . just visited recently and have seen dome chickens ( my family owns ) , i would like to ship ( not plane ) there fertile eggs to the uk . does anyone know the procedure , cost etc involved ?
Exporting eggs from the UK needs the exporter to apply for a special license through Defra. This is a legal requirement and involves rigorous testing of all stock for various diseases eg. salmonella by a Defra appointed vet. The process and degree of testing varies depending on the requirements of the country the eggs/live stock of the country the eggs are being exported too. The importer usually needs to have a license to receive the eggs.
So in conclusion quite a complex process which needs good communication and planning from both countries.
The requairemens for hatching eggs is they have to test the flock of birds which the eggs going to come from. You have to contact Defra about it and they send you all info for it.The best if you flown the eggs from there as ech day make egg less likely to hatch.
