At the moment I've got 3 chicks hatched and in the brooder, and another 3 on the way.I'm feeling pleased with myself as Serama eggs are supposed to be tricky, only supposed to expect a 50% hatch rate once they've been through the post,so 6 out of 6 I'm very pleased with.

wow well done. I have 6 seramas due to hatch today but so far nothing although they did come through the loving hands of royal mail so I havent high hopes. hope your other 3 hatch thats an awsome result :D

Hi Stepyone,I got mine from a seller on ebay, hatch date was last fri and they started hatching on monday, so 3 days late. All are now hatched and doing well.Really cute and inquisitive.
Don't panic if yours also go a day or 2 over, mine did and all are fine, the last 2 hatching today.I think going through the post makes them hatch later.........

my hatch day was yesterday and I now have 1 serama hatched so am over the moon. will leave them longer though just in case any are late but i'm happy just to get 1. you done really well hope your last 2 hatch ok

That's brilliant Stepyone,I'm sure more will hatch, leave them at least 3 days. You can check if they are viable by placing them in a jug or bowl, with tepid/slightly warm water, viable eggs will 'bob',sometimes you have to give them a minute to start bobbing, then dry them and put them carefully back into their incubator.
What colour is your chick? Most of mine are black and white, one is chocolate and a sort of cream colour and one is completely yellow,no dark down so think it will be white.Mine love to be picked up and held, while I stroke their little heads and necks, then they fall asleep. When I put my hand back into the brooder they don't want to get of my hand :D .
They are real darlings.

have 2 now one little yellow one with brown stripes and a black one with bit of yellow. they do seem very friendly already the yellow one will toddle onto my hand to be picked up he is so cute, the black one hasn't been handled much yet as is still drying in the incy. just took him out to take photo then popped him back in
