Save our hedgehogs - petition, please sign

The British hedgehog population has declined by up to a third in only the past 10 years.
Please consider signing and sharing this petition to give hedgehogs legal protection in the face of their rapidly declining numbers. At 10,000 signatures, Parliament will respond, and at 100,000, the petition will be debated.

At present, hedgehogs have no legal protection under the Wildlfe Act, and the proposed addition of them to listed species would provide legal protection similar to bats and many other species, against destruction of habitat and refuges as well as prosecution of perpetrators for deliberate cruelty. Hedgehog numbers are falling so fast nationally that they may well be totally extinct in many areas within a decade if nothing is done to help them.
