Hi advice needed

I've got 8 Runner Duck eggs in my incubator and two started pipping yesterday about 18.30 (day 23) is this normal in some circumstances and can anybody give me any advice or suggestions as to what I should be doing and looking out for? This is my first attempt at trying to hatch.

Hi,
I would have thought this was a bit early and wonder if the incubator has been running a bit too warm. I think you should stop turning them-this is normally day 25 but if pipping they are going to be early.
Increase the humidity if not already done so and set the temp to 37c.
I hatched 4 runners last year-my one and only hatching experiance-my main advice is DO NOT open the incubator when hatching/external pipping starts as the humidity will drop and the membrane around the duckling will dry so they cannot get out of the egg.
My first one hatched day 28 and the last one day 31 .

what about he other six eggs though ? ive had my temp at 37.5 and humidity a 45 through out incubation i panicked and flicked a bit of the shell off with my finger nail yesterday and there is now a hole about 5 millimetre diameter and i can see the duckling moving about and chirping.. the humidity is now 60 as i added a damp sponge. but i don't want to risk losing my other eggs in trying to save one.

sorry-you need some one on here with more experiance than me. I know I read different books advising different humidities but that was in my limited experiance where I had problems as my last one got stuck and I had to peel off the shell to get him out-he's now fine.Would it help to put some damp cloth over the hole to prevent drying out? could you contact the person you sourced the eggs from to ask them?
Sorry can't be any more help-I remember how stressed I was at this time!

number one hatched 20 minutes ago and is wobbling all over the place how long till they are good on there feet as it keeps falling over baring in mind its about 4 days early?

I haven't hatched runners for a while, and a couple of batches did hatch a few days early without any problems, apart from the fact I was a little unprepared! :D They took around a day to find their feet once hatched. They need to dry out and rest first. The next day they were bombing around all over the place!

Yes mine took several hours to rest and dry out before getting on their feet. The final one who had to be taken out of the shell was left overnight to recover and in the morning was wandering round the incubator. I removed the dry ones to put in the brooder waiting for the 2 others to hatch which is why the humidity dropped and my final 2 had such problems. What colour is your little one ?

They have both hatch now one is black and the other is chocolate. I've set my brooder up ready for tomorrow.
