has anyone or does anyone use this for covering thier runs my girls are in a 33 ft by 33 ft run or mite be just slighty bigger and the run has netting all the way over it but i would like to get it covered so it can stay dry and give the girls some protection , http://www.ideas-4-pets.com/lucky-all-weather-chicken-run-cover-777-p-4184.html. it does seem pricy and they dont really do sheets big enough for my run but if i got this then i would in time half my run and then just split the girls into groups of 10 { have 20 birds } but would llike to know if its any good :D

The link doesn't say how thick the sheeting is, would be worried wind may get under it and would rip. Tried ,myself a few years ago, the weight of the snow worried me so took it down.
Just my opinion.
I now use a field shelter in each of the runs with straw, the girls love getting in these when it is cold and wet.
 
i didnt give the snow i thought thanks think i may just forget that then :-)05 , i have got one shelter for my new ex batts as they are still within the seperation run { using one of those large plastic containers from argos minus the doors { its mainly to keep thier food dry and yes they are loving this container over the weekend i will screw gutting inside of it and then place a very low plank along the front and fill it with shavings so they can dry thier feet while eating , and over the next few weks i will be making a stronger 3 sided shelter for all the birds { have made a temparory one dont like it } as i want all the birds together this weekend as one whole group also the other 6'4 shed should go back in thier this wekend which is where the ex batts will sleep each night as i am not happy with 20 birds all sleeping in the wendy house so the batts will get thier own house confusing i know :lol:

We were very lucky because we dismantled an existing structure in the garden and used it on the chicken run. Ours is only 8 foot by 6 but half is covered with board covered in rubber similar to this link

It is tough and durable and the chickens then have the choice of huddling together and keeping dry under the covered bit or standing in the rain (which they sometimes do :lol: funny birds).

Maybe a bit expensive but will come in larger sizes see. You may be able to secure it across the top without adhering it to board like we have.
 
On Ebay there is a company called QVS Online.

They sell tarps a lot cheaper. I have covered all my runs with the sort used for market stalls (white one).
This tarp is really tough and stood all the snow, wind and bad weather up here at 1000ft and never ripped,tore or lleaked.

They will make it to any size you like if they don't stock the size you want.
I will personnaly recommend it.
