I am distraught. I lost Mildred overnight on Friday.
After making what seemed like a full recovery from her problems, awoke on Saturday morning to no sound of her morning 'bop bop' hello as I opened the door, no elegant swish down the ramp - so opposite from Nancy's crash as she tumbles into the light at full pelt of Tom boy glee.
The garden is empty, both me and Nancy are huddled in the corner of the patio together not knowing where to turn. Who is going to chase the wild birds off the feeder at every chance, or shake her tail elegantly (as only Mildred could) when she was happy.
The world is an empty shell and nancy is now alone. We miss her

Oh dear. I'm so sorry. The special ones hit very hard when they go, don't they. They are so good at hiding illness that its often a surprise when suddenly they are not there any more. She was a very lucky girl, to have had such a loving home and a good companion in Nancy. Take care, both of you.

Very sorry to hear that BB. They always leave a hole when they go and I still often remember the ones we have lost from years back and miss them terribly. Hope you find another character to fit in, as it sounds as though Nancy needs a companion.

Hello BB,
Felt so sad for you it brought tears; try and think of the joy of another one, the lone hen needs a companion.
I still miss Sally, one of my two first totally zany Warrens, who made us all laugh so much with her unforgettable antics, and who used to scold my daughter for smoking near her; also Sorbet, my granddaughter's Lemon cuckoo Pekin who officially joined the Brownies, complete with uniform in the form of a small hen saddle. She thought everyday was "showtime", and used to sunbathe with Lucy, she on her back, keel uppermost on a towel in the garden!! As long as she was with Lucy she was happy.
They both made all our lives better, some dear little hens do, and are unforgettable.
Somewhere out there are some georgeous girls needing loving homes and care like you can give.

So sorry to hear about Mildred, especially as she seemed to have turned the corner illness wise :(
