rhode island red maran x?

hi everyone

i was just wondering if anyone has crossed a RIR with a maran?

my broody hatched some eggs for me and we have a chick that is a black/gray colour but has a buff coloured head and the closes breed i can find to it is a RIR plymouth rock X but the man i got the eggs of didnt have plymouth rocks so i was just wondering if a RIR X maran would come out looking the same?

and if anyone has crossed a RIR and maran do u have any pics?

Hi, yes I have many chicks from my rhode island red hens, black leghorns and Orpington hybrids hens with my maran and have had a few chicks like the one you described. Black all over with a grey bum and an almost pale orange head. Very cute! I have one which is 12 weeks old now and has a very orange yellow head she is beautiful though! I will try to load some pics later. In the meantime if you look at my old posts I did have one about my last lot of chicks with photos. I had some in there if you can see them alright?
