Our neighbour's who really do have more money than sense went to that new Salt Bae restaurant in Knightsbridge which apparently is all the rage. Newly opened.
For 5 of them " It was good value really, it only came to £5000 " says the lady of the house
After we had picked ourselves up off the floor, we got a breakdown steaks were £150-£850 and the birthday boy had the £850 one which came enrobed with gold leaf. 1 broccoli floret was £14, scoop of mashed potato £12, 3 herb crusted chips £30, 1 asparagus shoot £18. Non alcoholic drinks £11. Ice cream £100 per scoop. I wont bore you with the whole bill breakdown
Talk about obscene, and people are daft enough to pay it.

She then added " if you can't eat it all they put it in a box for you to bring home" I would want the table, chairs and chandelier included

It's the emperor's new clothes syndrome.

How many portions of broccoli could you buy for £14, to say nothing of £12 worth of potatoes ?!?!

I’d cook for them any time!

But when you think how many people are dependent on food banks, and have problems feeding their children especially in the holidays, it is, as you say, obscene.

We said exactly the same, if you have that sort of money to throw around you should be spending it on those without food.

It was Turkish ice cream, which he (the chef) makes to his own recipe, it's ice cream has the same basic ingredients world wide. Just with different flavours or toppings. Must tell our goddaughter she is married to the owner of Rossi ice cream, see what they could come up with for £100 a scoop. Diamond encrusted cone maybe.

Anyone dumb enough to fork out that kind of money for a meal, deserves to be charged that much!
Mind you, our supermarket was, at one stage, selling "cauliflower steak" for €1.29. It was just a thick slice of cauliflower on a polystyrene tray, wrapped in plastic.

Or a supermarket selling mashed potato for £2.50 a small tray. £1.50 for a boiled egg.

I am sure most people just go there to brag about how much they have spent. A food reviewer said he had tasted a better £8.50

Yes, people are just bragging, BYM. Saw one on Twitter where the duckheads had spent £10,000 for a bottle of wine. I wonder what gold leaf tastes like? Not enough for the money, no doubt.

Whatever it tastes like, it will ultimately go the way of other waste!

Hope this works - it's worth reading.
