I thought you might be interested to see how we have set up our electric fence. We have a remote control pad which then triggers a light that we have placed on the shed. So if the light is on, the fence is on. It saves all those worrying moments when you can't remember if the fence has been switched on - I can just look out of the window and see. The fence is powered by solar panels, so in fine weather lasts a long time.

Yes. It has a 12V deep-cycle battery that is charged by a 30W solar panel via a solar regulator. There is no mains voltage involved, the remote switch is also a 12V device bought on-line for around £10. It is placed between the 12V battery positive and the fence energiser module. The LED light is also fed from the output of the relay to show when the fence is active. It all works brilliantly!

That's great - I didn’t know you could get 12V remotes. 12V timers are very hard come by and I assumed remotes would be too.
