Red mite prevention

Hi Touchstone.
No, I've never heard of it, sorry. I've had excellent results from "Total Mite Kill" from Nettex https://www.nettexpoultry.com/products/mite-and-pest-control/total-mite-kill-ready-to-use-spray/ .

I was sold my first (wooden tongue & groove) coop, 2nd hand, by a local poultry farm & fortunately learned before I got my first hens that the coop was riddled with red mite. By the time I'd used the Total Mite Kill on it, it was fine. Thereafter whenever I cleaned it I'd dust the inside with diatomaceous earth powder. (FFP3 mask of equivalent strongly recommended for this.)

Hope this helps.

Thanks, I use real creosote initially then spot check with it backed up with Diatomaceous earth , which I find very good. I’m always looking for a more user friendly product from the creosote so I will try your suggestion. I’m currently redmite free but you can’t ever relax

I inherited some "real" creosote when we moved here, but couldn't buy any more when it ran out. But the Total Mite Kill works really well & smells much better too!!
