RED MITE/LICE

Hi im in need of some serious advice.

I found mite on my chickens about 4 weeks ago and started to treat them with red mite powder which I have repeated around 5 times since but they still have got mite. I also disinfected the coop with Vircon S.

Has anyone got any other ideas what I could do to eradicate the mite.

My chickens went in to moult around 9 weeks ago ow and have still not started to lay again.
 
you will need to give the house a major clean out and get into the noks an cranies with red mite spray poulty shield is very good , once its dry sprakle loads of diatom around the edges and also that can be added to the bedding to keep them down also the birds can be powered with it .

johnsons do a small bird mite powder and thats pretty good but for the life of me i cant remember its correct name even though i have used it quite a lot , some people use frontline spray or drops { cat/ kitten } on the back of the neck and that has been susscesfull but be carefull as its not licenesed to be used for poultry .
i should not speak to soon but i only clean my houses thoughly twice or 3 times a year during the summer when it can dry out properly but other times i just spray with poultry sheild every other day or so { do half the house few days later do the other half } and i have never had red mites within the houses but my girls have had lice but they soon went with treatment . good luck :-)07
 
those links were good but you wont find me using coke , i like my coke to much :lol: :lol: my houses are having a good clean out this weekend . when you read posts like this they really do make you think :-)05 ohh an makes ya paranoid

coke??? :-)11 erm....I thought the powder was Diatom..... :-)02
