Hi Guys

I want to invest in a decent incubator and I'd like your personal thoughts and experience!

I was looking at a second hand R-Com Pro 20 and have seen them go on Ebay for as little as £170. Then Omlet.co.uk are offering the Brinsea Octagon 20 Advance Incubator with Autoturn Cradle for £189.

Please give me some thoughts on this as I have just ordered in 24 more Rhode Island Red eggs.... They'll end up in the Corti I borrowed again.

Thanks guys for all the advice so far. It's been great!

Both are good. A common reason given for choosing Brinsea is their UK base and the helpful after sales service.

I've got an RCom Smudger. Buy Brinsea. Have you seen the latest design? 40 eggs, cable heating element, 4 fans, double insulated base. I'm impressed but haven't seen the price yet. See what the lottery numbers are this week!

Bought the Brinsea Octagon 20 Advance Incubator with Autoturn Cradle!

It arrives on Wednesday along with 24 Rhode Island Red eggs... Yay!

Thanks for the advice!

24 into 20 don't go smudger !! But then there's always the faithful Italian job for the overflow !

It does actually say up to 24 eggs but I suppose that's quail eggs LOL.

And yes I have the old Italian master for the excess!

Any infertiles can come out at day 7 Smudger and perhaps they will all fit then? Presume you are going to do what we did, take them to day 18 in the Brinsea and put them in the Corti to hatch. Then clean the Brinsea and get another lot in it 5 days earlier than you could have.

You should just be OK with 24, a bit of a squeeze but as Chris has mentioned you will probably be able to make space by removing any "clears" you have early on. I have a brinsea Octagon 20 ex advance, don't use it any more a superb machine and Brinseas customer service is excellent.

Hi guys

My new Brinsea machine turned up yesterday and I loaded it with 24 eggs perfectly. It's a fantastic bit of kit. I'm liking the auto turn cradle. Not to sure about setting the cooling period so I have asked Brinsea for advice.
