rabbits/chickens

does anyone here keep rabbits in with chickens i mean by letting them run together during the day but sleep in seprate houses of a night time ,i have now got 2 rescue bunnies { very cute and i havent kept raabbits since i was about 8 am 39 now lols } and they have a 10ft by 2 ft run but come out for a while in the afternoons when i lock all birds into one pen so they get a good run around but i keep reading misleading sites on wether its safe to let them in together or not .over the weekend i am going to start converting another area for them so they will have thier own run which will be massive for them but in the mean time they willl have to stay with the chocks .

I don't know if your query has been resolved, as I'm just catching up with the board after a few weeks away.
I'd suspect that the issue with rabbits & hens sharing space would be a shortage of grass. A friend of mine has a couple of rabbits & despite rotating their run around his fairly large garden each week, he finds that they eat the grass quicker than it can regrow, especially at this time of the year. Add in some hens who both eat the grass and scratch it up, & I'd have thought that you'll very quickly have hungry rabbits & hens fighting them for the grass...

Hi,

Our rabbit and hens are now inseparable. As our rescue bun, Hector lost his wife last spring, he has turned to the hens for company. We have started giving the hens some corn now its getting colder, and the Hector runs into the midst to get his share. They each have separate drinking and food bowls, but tend to share the water. They never wander into each others house though. if the hens go under the hedge next door, Hector follows.......He does however like to surprise the hens and run amock to liven things up....As for the grass, we just make sure he has lots of lovely hey.....he prefers the grass in the neighbours gardens?, but likes to leave his poop parcels on ours. Sometimes our pekin cock will stand up to Hector, despite the bun being much bigger. A short sharp peck sees Hector scamper away, but they always remain friends, bless.

i have sorted it out thanks , the rabbits have the other half of my main run which was split in half so each side is 33ft by 12 ft { ish } i did have 4 ducks and my main plan was to grass over one side then move the ducks an then grass the other side then just move them over every few weeks to let each side recover well that never happened as one of the ducks my stunning aylesbury only wanted to rape one of the runners non stop and in time he would of done seruios damage so i had 2 birds in each pen and my idea never came of but in the end i decided to rehome 2 of the ducks and they were found a new home within an hour of going on facebook and funny thing is they now live about 1 mile down the road vfrom me and i have become good friends with the people lols they rescue rabbits and guinea pigs and i went to see the ducks settle in and i left with 2 rabbits who now have the other half of the duck pen and then i was able to get another bigger bunny 08 so now 3 buns and 2 ducks share the runs but now its so muddy they have been seperated until it drys but i have to admit i think the ducks adore the buns caught them laying next to the buns last week when i forgot to shut the walk though gate lols. now i have half way though sanding and slabbing one side for the buns to stop the mud which they avoid but the ducks adore it .
