Blaze has done her time (in isolation and on Flubenvet but in view of the others) and her rear isn’t the angry red that it was but is still quite red. She is laying with shells now though the quality is a bit rough. I thought that a bit of purple dye would be a good idea to avoid any of the pecking from the others that she was suffering before.
Initially it seemed to have exactly the opposite effect and I thought I had made a terrible mistake! One sight of the colour (I did try to put it only on the red bit) and they all chased her round the coop poor thing. However, now they have checked it out and realised that it isn’t anything of interest the chasing has stopped and it doesn’t seem to be catching their eye any more. Hopefully it will now just become the norm and will mask the redness as I hoped.
Crikey - chickens eh!

I expect it's quite antiseptic and soothing, which is also good. Probably the chasing was mainly because she hasn't been among them for a while, even if you've kept her within sight of them. I'm glad all seems well now anyway.

Took her to the vet yesterday and although she's a little underweight the redness has gone (one of those times when you turn up for the doctors appointment feeling right as rain!)
There's been a whole raft of stuff I've thrown at this problem along the way and not sure if any one, or the combination that has done it;
The purple antiseptic has helped I'm sure
Anti peck spray mixed with nappy cream maybe.
The worming (still puzzled why she would have had them)
Moistening their pellets with water with a small amount of salmon paste has got her tucking into the food. Might get fishy eggs but worth it if she gets back to being strong as I think she has actually been a bit run down for months and, as the vet said, growing new feathers is the last priority.
