Hi
was just wondering if any of you sell your eggs to neighbours, and if so how much do you charge for half a dozen? i will only sell my light sussex eggs as the marsh daisy are quite small.

Hi BB---- Ive just increased mine this week having seen how much shop eggs are! I sell med/big eggs (mix as they come!) for £1 for 6 and bantams for 60p for 6 . Dont worry re size of bantam eggs -- I have people who come here specifically for them as they think they taste better than the bigger ones , some also like them for kids! As egg boxes are so expensive if only need a few , I print out labels from computer and mark boxes -please return box if possible. Hope that helps. ros

Thanks for replies... I was thinking about £1 for 6. thanks for your help.
I am only looking at using the money to recoup the cost of food etc.. for chickens
every little helps.

Reading this perhaps I should put my prices up too!! Currently I sell my ex-batts eggs for 80p per 6 and am donating the proceeds from our cattery customers back to the British Hen Welfare Trust where my little girls came from (every bit helps free another battery hen after all) :)

i was selling my eggs for £1.20 for 6 or £2.20 for 12 all mixed eggs sizes an colours . but now i charge £1 or £2 and i have been told of for dropping the prices by most of the people i sell to  i am not allowed to use the word sell as my girls are kept on council allotment ground so the money is now classed as a donation to thier welfare and feed the word selling had to get dropped in case { as i was told } someone fell ill eating my eggs and sued the council :-)07 :-)07 :-)07

I charge £1:50 for 6 hen or 6 quail eggs, and have never been told this is too much but often the opposite!
one friend often gives me £2 and refuses change saying they are "giant eggs" or ostrich eggs

3 years age they were 80p.... then £1.... then as shop prices for organic, free range, barn raised etc went up, I increased the price.
close family dont pay but donate veg & weeds!

be brave and up your prices... before the price of feed goes up ;)

 i like the way you said that but i am happy with what i am charging although i do have some that pay the old price and wont change and also a few that will pay me £2 for 6 and really tell me of for not accepting it

I charge £1 for 6 mixed, but often get given more. I find a lot of people (me included) actually find the bantam eggs tastier for some reason. :D

When we had too many eggs for the inci and friends I was selling them for £1 for 6 large eggs and 50p for 6 bantam - very cheap considering shop príces but we live in a tiny village so there aren't many customers

Agree with you about the bantam eggs ncotb - We had lots of people ask for ours and my 4 year old niece won't eat any eggs except my bantam or cream legbar eggs - she says they taste better :D

I only charge 60p because i find that covers the costs as i mostly use and sell my eggs as hatching eggs, only surplus eggs go for eating eggs.

I sell my eggs at the local farmers market - £1 for 6 large eggs and the bantam eggs 60p for 6, all helps towards their feed

So far mine are by donation because I take them to a club meeting & anyone who wants them donates to my charity box but next year I think I'll sell some for myself to buy their food.

Where my OH works 2 people sell their eggs at £1.60 per 6.

if you look in the shops, 6 eggs (large) is about £1.30. But you can increase that because people(neighbours) will know where the eggs actually come from. And you can also sell them free range. If you are looking for egg boxes/trays, ask your local cafe, restraunt. They always help me.

Just thought I would let you all know that free range from Waitrose are 29p - 36p per egg, even more for organic ones. :o

All the best
Sue
