Hi All

Dont know if anyone is interested or if it has already been mentioned, however, I've found a company in Essex which supplies feed pellets with Flubenvet added.
Saves all the worry about getting the Flubenvet well spread amongst the flock.

They deliver as far south as Brighton weekly and their prices are not too bad,

I have no connection with this company and no financial interest in it, I just thought it may interest those of you who live that side of the country.

Not sure if I am allowed to mention the companies name on here so if you need it just PM me.

cheers

steve

How does price compare with equiv. amount of the stronger/cheaper powder I wonder?? Ros

Marriages launched a pre-mixed feed with Flubenvet recently.

Hi foxy

Thats the company i was on about, only i wasn't sure about mentioning their name.

I live in cornwall and was speaking to James Marriaage yesterday. He told me that if you buy their Feed by the ton, they will add Flubenvet for £80 extra.

I realise that not everyone wants a ton, but perhaps a few people could form a small co op and pool their resources, at £80 extra for the wormer i think it's great value.
1 Ton of layers with Flubenvet included, delivered to Cornwall is going to cost £417/ton which included (if I remember correctly) £30 delivery.

He stated that it was available by the 20kg sack at aroung about £17. Which, when worked out does not seem to be too bad a price and ensures the Flubenvet is well mixed.

I have just used the marriage feed with flubenvet for my birds. The girls didn't particually like their new feed to begin with but once they got hungry enought they ate it. Only downfall was that the pellets are rather on the large size. I was worried about the smaller bantams i.e. pekins and sabelpoots being able to eat them but they seemed fine.
Marriages distribute feed to certain licenced suppliers across the country, off hand I think a 20kg bag was around £9.95.
Was certinally an easy solutiuon to worming the birds and would recommend using the feed.

Although only licenced for poultry can also be used for Ornamental Waterfowl.

Hi Victoria's

Wow, thats a far better price than I was quoted, Maybe I picked up the wrong end of the stick. I'll contact them again and get that price verified.

Cheers

Hi Rookie
The £17 per bag you were quoted by James Marriage would have included their courier charge. If you speak to him again ask where the nearest stockest is to you, always alot cheaper to go and pick up especially if you need a few bags. I got 10 bags in my car without any problems.
They also do a growers meal which I am going to try in the spring, if it is anything like the layers meal the older birds get I am sure it will get the thumbs up from the youngsters :D

Hi Voctoria's

I was coming to that conclusion myself.
Marraige's dont stock in the South West, though Jaames did say he would ove to.
So if I want to use them I will have to pay the pallet delivery charge via Palletline. Even then, it still seems to be VFM taking into acount the price I would have to pay for Flubenvet for alomost 500 hens.

Perhaps I should offer to be the South West stockist for them Lol.

The other thing you could do is buy the intermediate flubenvet 2.5% in 240g packs and works out so much cheaper than the expensive backyard flubenvet packs. This is what I use and I have a flock of around 100 birds. I think it is roughly 12g to 10kg of feed at a time so 240g goes a long way ;)

Hi Foxy

I get confused reading those dosage instructions, having read the one on your link, it appears that the dosage is 1.2kg / ton of feed. If I have read that correctly, then that would make the cost of the Flubenvet about £115.

I do wish they would put dosing instructions in Old Money instead of these mickey mouse measurements.

You would only need 7 days treatment though...even with 500 birds you won't need that much.

Roughly 150kg a week of pellets for 500 birds x 7 days of treatment, which working on 12g flubenvet/10kg feed = 180g with is about 2/3rds 240g pot of flubenvet @ £22.00 per pot. :-)07 :-)07

I have a very unscientific way though :D 2 flat level teaspoons in 10kgs of feed mixed well with 2 teaspoons of cod liver oil, I then make up a few batches in pails at a time and use this method twice a year Spring and Autumn.

Ah!, Now i'm with you, I was looking at the whole ton instead of the amount I need to treat for the number of hens I have.

I'll catch on eventually

thanks foxy

Hi Foxy
Thats why I bought the marriages feed with wormer in, just open the bags and let the girls eat

I originally bought the liquid wormer from the vets but you had to weigh each bird, bags ready mixed is great.

Hi Sue, where did you buy it from? They don't sell it at Larton Livery in Greasby where I get my food from. Thanks

Hi Nicola
Hope you are well. Feed store in Abergele next to McDonalds is the closest to myself in Chester.
