Foxes aren’t so much the problem here , had some losses from Pole Cats. The local RSPCA are breeding them and releasing them which I consider irresponsible, also they’re a protected species, how do I protect my chickens? I may have to give up chicken keeping.

The RSPCA are a pretty irresponsible organisation all round I think and I never had any time for them. Releasing town foxes into the countryside instead of destroying them and making them someone else's problem, prosecuting someone who 'inhumanely' drowned a grey squirrel instead of 'humanely' shooting it (only one shot allowed) and now this. Pole Cats are as much of a problem as mink, which are outright unselective killers. All you can do is beef up your enclosure, or give up as you say. We lost two bantams a few Summers ago to a pole cat. It squeezed through a small gap in the run, killed them both, but could only then leave with a head.
