Pricklebums Hedgehog Rescue is run by Ailie Hill, a single mum who devotes all her time and energies to helping the many sick and injured hedgehogs who are brought in every week in need of care. Pricklebums have reached the final shortlist in the Shed of the Year contest, in the Unexpected section. Please vote for Pricklebums, as a win will make an enormous difference to this very worthy small rescue. Thank you.
Go to http://www.readersheds.co.uk and Pricklebums is the pink shed on the left hand side of the voting page.

And here's a link to the Guardian article about Shed of the Year, with pics of the Tardis and Ailie at work.

My comment says

'What I like about this entry is that it's not just a personal retreat or a private hobby. It's the only one in this category which has a genuinely useful purpose, as a rehabilitation shed for an endangered species. Also it's made from recycled materials on a tiny budget. Unlike all of the others. It represents the untold hours and much personal monetary sacrifice that Ailie puts into this wildlife centre. Her work hasn't only helped hundreds of hedgehogs, but has inspired her helpers and followers to do all they can, in their own neighbourhoods, to do the same. How on earth do you fit 22 hedgehog boxes and a workbench into a shed 2m. square? and I believe there are more indoors!
Pricklebums NEEDS a bigger, new shed, and lots more followers, to enable Ailie to carry on her work without financial worries."

All the other entries in this category seem to be expensive sheds just for individual pleasure - nothing wrong in that, but she's the only one with a positive use and purpose.

I have voted for it. It was the only one in the unexpected category that was actually a shed. I mean one of them was practically a house. The contest is sponsored by Cuprinol and the Pricklebums one was the only one made from wood!. The rule should be if it would normally require planning permission to be built then it doesn't qualify as a shed.

And another link - more good publicity, in the Shropshire Star.
This is a whole lot more interesting and important than the General Election!

Brilliant will set the timer, our little Prickle Bum (Mrs snuffles) was around last night

Pricklebums WON in the Unexpected category! Great footage of Ailie Hill and the hedgehogs. Now she goes forward to the final, where one shed is chosen from all the categories.

Brilliant, and thats what we did, recorded it. Watched a recording of the Grand Prix as I was driving a rail replacement bus all day. Then fast forwarded the first shed bit. Lets keep everything crossed for the final
