I apologize if this post is in the wrong section.

I have a pair of geese, now 7 1/2 months old. They were ordered as american buff geese, but the goose Lucy is not an american buff at all; she is a brecon buff (or I should say, we are 99% certain she is a brecon). I love them both dearly, but Lucy's personality is very different from that of my AB gander Tuffy. I spend a tremendous amount of time with my birds and love interacting with them. To understand their needs I believe it's important to know all I can about the breed; what makes them tick, so to speak.

Tuffy is a lovebug and a lap goose (gander). He is very human imprinted. While they are clearly in love with each other, Tuffy will walk away from Lucy if humans are around. Lucy is more standoffish. Not human aggressive in any way, prefers my husbands company to mine, but not exactly going to jump in someone's lap the way Tuffy will. Tuffy is what we call a goofball, Lucy is dignified and graceful at all times. Brooded with runner ducklings, Lucy and Tuffy both treat the runners as their children, but Lucy does not tolerate my other pair of ducks or my chickens very well at all.

Information about the brecons on the web and in the US is very limited. Can you tell me a little about your brecons to help me get a better understanding of why Lucy does the things she does and why her behavior is so much different than Tuffy's? Is her behavior typical of a brecon?

I should mention here that we are still not 100% sure of their genders. I have several internet friends that own geese and have identified Tuffy as the gander and Lucy as the goose based on pics I have posted and descriptions of their behavior. One started laying eggs about two weeks ago. Afraid of injuring them, I cannot bring myself to flip them over and have a look-see.
