Hi I am new to this forum and a bit worried about two of my chickens. The comb on one of them has gone from a vivid red to  a very dark almost black colour. The other is starting to go the same way. I seem to remember that one of my others looked a bit like this before going through the moult, But im not sure. Any suggestions as to what is causing this would be appreciated. They are both eating well and seem okay in them selves although one is not laying at the moment.

Welcome to the forum Gaggan.

Our cockerels' large comb goes very dark due to poor circulation to the back. Our hens combs lighten/ get paler with the moult as they go off lay.

Quick look at the Flyte so Fancy handy chicken illness sheets says heart disease, which is unlikely two at the same time, or poisoning? Are there any plants around they have eaten or is anyone using rat poison?

Thank you for your reply, they are out free range so I will take a look at the garden and see what might be poisonous.. hopefully not as I have had them a year and they were fine last summer.
