Perching problems

if you havent got them sue then how did you manage to escape we want to know   ,i will be totally honest and say i didnt think i had them until i started to pull down the wendy house within seconds i was covered in them and the next day the 6'4 shed was crawling in them even during the day and how no birds died i would never know still at war with them now but its a war that i am kinda enjoying :-)05 in a wierd way .

Well Sue, we went two glorious (in retrospect) years without red mite and discovered them in clusters in one coop during a routine cleanout. They subsequently spread to the other 9 very quickly. As the areas are separated they either spread in the wind after a chicken soil bath and shake (I know they inhabit soil baths) or we moved them about during the poo patrol when they hitched a lift on the dustpan and brush. I'm sure if you are looking you haven't got them yet. We also bought in new birds to find one of them was carrying red mite -but we already had them so no damage done. Realistically we will never eradicate them, just keep the numbers under control (with creosote and Elector).

Rudy has decided now to sleep on the perch for the first time.I wonder if newspaper had changed his mind as instead of woodshawings I had put newspaper down to try how will compare to wood shawing.I guess he do not like story about Mr.Fox recently printed and went to higher grounds

  . last week i decided to take mine of unibed { very finely chopped straw }cause of the red mites and put them back on shavings but i had run out so i got large sheets of paper from work and used that for a few nights its was a very light brown and blended in well with the colour of the ply but omgggggggg my girls hated it soem of them looked in the house then looked at me with complete disgust that they had no bedding .
