Peking ducks? When do they start to lay?

Hi as alot of use probably replied to skid of my other posts thank you very much for help and it's great to have kind people who like helpin as now I can re lay info into new members etc as I'm gettin pretty technical now an I no little thing that scare a first timer chick htcher,haha, my next question is when wil my Peking ducks start Layin, as they appear to be sexually Croce now, also do you use hay or straw or either and were exactly do input it? And am I due a shock when my little girl is laying will it appear frightening to me, any info thank you

Sorry, didn't see this post. They can take up to 9 months to start laying it depends on their breeding stock.
It is best to give them straw in their nest box, what kind of nest box facility do you have for them?

i think yours are about same age as mine and im not exspecting any eggs till next year now
my mix breeds were late hatched and didnt lay untill i think march.
but as i got 6 drakes from this hatch not got hopes high on eggs even then. lol

Haha ,aww is it true girls life spa. Is shortened ? Because of stress of Latin an egg?, also how many eggs do these lay, how many a week, I no chickens are 1 a day approx are ducks the same or slightly leas maybe? Mine are 14 week old now,


Hi zo I have the typical type neat box on side of pen that you see on the likes of eBay, problem is they sleep in it also , poops everywhere, can you use hay or does it have to be straw?? Or are they the same thing as I have bought a bag of hey because I can't find straw anywhere,

Straw is better as hay tends to get moldy fast and mold will kill ducks
