Hi everyone,
We have 2 eggs due to hatch. We have crossed a black mottled cock with 1 buff and 1 silver partridge hen. Any ideas as to what colours we may get?
Very excited to find out,
Claire.

Ummm... sorry not my strongest subject.. there's a fantastic website that will help http://kippenjungle.nl/kruising.html

The only difficulty is understanding what you enter - you need some understanding of genetics to be able to use it.

I did speak to the webmaster a couple of years ago about using his calculator on poultrykeeper with some basic examples but it was hard with the language barrier to succeed.

Maybe someone else will have an idea??

Would have thought they would have 90% black feathering as is the strongest gene, with a few colours in between, I am sure they will be very pretty

If your black mot is pure black (not carrying any other e allele apart from E) then they should be all black but with varying amounts of either gold or silver leakage in the neck and hackles.
Probably resembling birchen but they are not as they will lack the breast lacing.
Simples :D

Thanks for your replies guys. I will just be pleased if they both hatch but it is exciting to try to find out what they will be like. I will post pics if they are successful (next weekend is when they are due) :D
PS By the way Tim I did try that website but couldn't understand it :?

Try this one it is a bit easier http://kippenjungle.nl/Overzicht.htm#kipcalculator :-)17

Thanks ncotb I did get some results from that. Can't wait for them to hatch. :)
