Hum,
Looking at pancake recipes and 4 bantam eggs sitting on the table. 2 are round and cream, 2 are slightly larger, long and brown. So, the question is this. How many bantam eggs equates to a 'standard' hens egg and what size bantam egg counts, as all my eggs come slightly different.
Feel tonights dinner for my batch of eager sugar and lemon fiends could be interesting :-)07 :D :-)19

Just weigh them BB. A medium egg is 53 -62 grammes and a large egg 63 -72 grammes. Our bantams are 47 -51 grammes. So 4 of our bantam =three large. We sell 6 bantam at £1.00, 6 medium at £1.30 and 6 large at £1.60. By weight best value is the bantams, but they taste better as well. So why does anyone eat anything else?

I try not to sell our bantam eggs - they are all MINE!!

Do you boil them first? :D :D

Never thought of weighing them - thanks. Talking of boiling them, my pancake recipe reads " place egg in centre of well (without the shell)"
Oh dear :D

When we win the lottery we're going to shop at Waitrose!

want pancakes now will have to wait tell tomorrow , ummm suagr with loads of lemon juice :-)08 and chocolate sauce

Well if not Sue I'll have to take the plane out of the hanger, fill it up with half a ton of aviation and fly over to shop. Actually that sounds a real pain and not very environmentally friendly either. So we'll shop at Waitrose if we win the lottery while we are still here.

When we get there we won't be able to afford lottery tickets! Wonder if they have Pancake day in France?

Why do WE have pancake day anyway? I can't remember!!!!

Why Do We Eat Pancakes On Shrove Tuesday Pancake Day
The History Of Pancake Day

Pancake Day is always celebrated on a Tuesday and is also known as Shrove Tuesday. Pancake Day celebrates the start of the Christian celebration of Lent where Christians give up something for 40 days to empathise with Jesus Christ when he was sent into the wilderness for 40 days and nights and tempted by the Devil.

The forty days now leads up to the celebration of Easter.

Shriven

Traditionally Christians would go to church to confession where they would confess their sins and were absolved from their sins. This was known as Shriven or Shrive. Over the years this has been shortened to Shrove, hence why Pancake Day is now known as Shrove Tuesday.
Shriven.

Thank you karminski, but why pancakes? Or am I being particularly dim!!!

didnt find that bit out  as you didnt ask want me to go find out

We eat pancakes on Shrove Tuesday because long ago when eggs, flour and milk were luxuries they invented ways to get rid of those ingredients so they could fast over the 40 days so people decided to make pancakes. That's why we eat pancakes on Shrove Tuesday. According to Catholics that is..
