Ospreys 2020

it's roughly around 35 days incubation, so week beginning 17 May.
Heard the Rooks get agitated as we were in the garden this morning, looked up and an Osprey flew low North which was a nice surprise, makes a change from Buzzards heading North. 13 Sand Martins and a steady stream of Swallows going over as well

5F has settled happily at Llyn Clywedog with the resident male Dylan, as Delyth the resident female hasn't reappeared, and Tegid who was briefly there and got pushed off by Dylan has reportedly found a mate on another Snowdonia nest
No sign of Monty at Dyfi this year, but Telyn has settled happily for a new boy Idris as he has been named Idris.
Llyn Brenig has got their pair back safely.

And she has an egg with Dylan!!! :D

Nice screen capture Rick, hope it is the first of many for her, she deserve a bit of luck

Three eggs for Mrs G and Aran at Glaslyn, three eggs for Telyn and Idris at Dyfi, two eggs so far for 5F and Dylan at Clywedog. If she lays another egg and my maths is right, it will be due about 10am on Saturday as it's approx 70 hours between eggs. Oh and there are four eggs at the Rutland nest.

They have asked local schoolchildren to name 5F.
There are eggs at Kielder and Bassenthwaite as well, the other sites, guess we will find out once people get to the remote cameras to download footage

Kielder lost the first egg to crows because they both left the nest. I think they're quite young and inexperienced. Problem now is that the crows know the nest may be a source of food. Not sure whether there are eggs at Llyn Brenig. I wish people wouldn't post on FB that the remote nests are not being checked as it's an invitation to egg thieves - one just hopes in the current climate they'd be spotted easily.

Another chick for Mrs G and Aran, hatched at 10.52 this morning :-)08 :-)08 :-)08 :-)08

She was moving the shell aside so it could get out. So gentle with that curved beak it was lovely to watch. Didn't see it live, I rewound to watch it.

Here's a clip of the hatch - and the second egg now has a crack!

2nd chick arrived this evening. no 45 for Mrs G and Aran's 15th chick.
At Kielder white YA is awaiting eggs hatching, Mrs G's son from 2007, and she will be a great gran this year, truly a super Osprey

Good to see the two Glaslyn chicks having some lunch a minuet ago.
Then looked in on 5F and checked out earlier - A traumatic morning with the wind! Blew Dylan clean off but 5F hung in there. They've tidied up since. Is fishing difficult in this wind? (Seems Aran has caught a fish but... )

Chick hatched at Llyn Brenig! There isn't a camera on the nest but the watchers saw Blue 24 obviously feeding a chick.

No 3 has arrived. Bit of drama at start as it was on it's back for a while and the other two were in its way, but all right way up now.
