For all you Osprey fans out there. Maya the Rutland female battled through 50mph winds onto the nest at 10.39 am. Scared the living daylights out of the 2 Egyptian Geese on it.
Guess a few more aren't far behind. Osprey 30 with the tracker left Senegal on Monday.

Sorry, You know, Ruth has a built in Osprey detecting device. you can have 1st dibs on the Welsh birds :)

33, the male at Rutland has arrived but best of all Mrs G has returned to Glaslyn! :D :D :D :D

Hooray, she she hasn't changed and quickly beat up the loitering crows :-)08 :-)08
The Loch of the Lowes female (Lassie) has returned also, hope she is impressed with Laddies, pine furnishings on the nest.
Come on Aran

Telyn the Dyfi female arrived last night at 7 28. The Llyn Brenig female arrived back on Thursday.
We have been watching on Google earth the satellite tracked Osprey from Rutland 30 and worked out some stats from the info she 3 days to cross the Western Sahara with total of 19 hours flying. Then 2 days crossing the Atlas Mountains with a total of 23 hours flying. Then one day she flew 16 hours non stop across Spain. Her average days flying is 12-13 hours. The data comes in every 3 days and a couple of days ago she was just west of Paris..
Interestingly another satellite tracked bird only left Senegal a few days ago, and another one has just got to Morocco.
With the Google earth it is amazing to actually see the terrain they are crossing, where they stop to roost and how inhospitable some of these places are, for all species on migration

You need to download Google Earth. Then in menu along top click on Add Option then click Network Link.
In the Network Link box enter Rutland Ospreys Migration in name field.
In Link Field enter http://www.ospreys.org.uk/satellite/rutlandospreys.kml

Both Telyn (Female) and Monty are back at the Dyfi Osprey Project. Telyn arrived back on Saturday and Monty this morning.
Just waiting for Aran to come back to Glaslyn now.

Aran touched down at Glasyn 7.20am welcome home boy :D .
Yesterday the Kielder 1a nest got it's pair back within 2 hours of each other. The Esthwaite pair landed together at 9.15 and 3 more ospreys arrived at Rutland.
On Birdguides today Ospreys are flying in off the channel at regular intervals. heard our first Willow Warbler today

Eggciting times ahead for us Osprey watchers.
The ok has been given for White tailed Eagles to be introduced onto the Isle of Wight.

Dylan and Delyth are back at Welsh nest 5, and it looks as though the Llyn Brenig male was seen at Glaslyn briefly yesterday
The Loch Arkaig and Loch Doon pair have arrived safely, many more have made it safely back this week also.
A French bird surveyor reports that yesterday around a couple of lakes he saw at least 20 Ospreys with rings on waiting to move onwards

Maya at Rutland laid another egg - yesterday I think, so they've started incubation.

Ruth has just sent me this clip of an osprey bringing a collection of stuffed toys back to the nest. I think this is the weirdest thing I;'ve seen for a very long time.
