she was 9 months old she was fine when she was let out in the morning we found her laying on the floor limp, drooping wings, not able to hold neck and head up, with a snoty discarge from the noise, watery discarge from eyes she couldent keep her eyes open, in her mouth she had a little stiky watery fluide and she was kinder tence she had a full crop we brought her in the house and died a few minutes later. she has had no vaccicnes in her life we are wored that she had something infectus

Aawww how sad. From what you describe it seems she had a respitory infection. You may want to get some antibiotics for the rest of the flock as it is contagious. Don't panic though as it normally doesn't kill. Mortality rate is no more than 10%. I have had the same thing and I lost a pekin cockeral but of all the others getting it I haven't lost any more. I now don't give antibiotics anymore as I like them to build up their own immunity. This may come back, any stress of sharp changes in temperature can cause them to fall ill and any new chickens you get will get it too. It's a very common thing, some people will cull their entire flock amd start again and some like myself just treat them and/or let them build up immunity to it. Hope this helps and sorry about your chook :-(

Very sorry to hear about that. Sounds bit like infectious bronchitus. Ours all had that and recovered with a course of Synolox, which tackles viruses apparently. None of them got ill that fast though. Suggest you see a vet. Might be pneumonia, but I thought only very young chicks caught that?

Hi, i keep Citricidal at the ready at the first sign of runny noses. When i first got my hens the breeder said they get colds as we do, and this remedy boosts their immunity. Sorry you girl died.
