hiya guys im sure this is going to be quite controversial but whats the opinion on keeping one hen on her own? my daughter had managed to tame one of the little chicks (now 7 wks old) and has taken a shine to it...she is 26 and has a 4year old daughter and they want to adopt this little chick as a pet...well all my girls are pets but im just a softie. she has a small rabbit hutch and run to keep her in. i cant see much of a problem as we all know people with one dog and they are bascically pack animals...let me know what you think and reasons please thanks :D

Hi, well i would never keep one- it's not fair on the bird- can she not have two? they are not "pets" as such and like their own company- two will not take up more feed/space than one- dogs can bond to humans- chickens dont. Just my thoughts.
regards, David :)

Although dogs are essentially pack animals, they also thrive in a "human" enviroment as this compliments their pack instinct as we become part of the pack and this domestic situation usually works very well, as long as dog knows its place in the human pack! :D Chickens are a flock animal and humans unfortuately cannnot compensate for this therefore at least one feathered companion is advised.

i would get another one, just to keep the chicken company. if you get nother one it will be a bonus, for twice the number of eggs and just pleasure
