Old Music

I'm finding that most contemporary musical brilliance isn't happening in English, but also that the language barrier is mostly insurmountable (the only person I know who has properly listened to music I've enthusiastically shared is a swing bassist friend.) I've come to the conclusion that what drives good music is physical record sales - of physical CDs and vinyl and a vibrant mix of big and small labels and live gigging in a cash driven economy. It is happening, just not here any more unfortunately.

A lot of todays songs don't have lyrics as such either.

That's very true. There was a "song" out some months ago, the lyrics of which consisted of "shake your a**", repeated ad nauseum.
