Came home from hols yesterday evening after a week of worrying about the animals. "I don't think the woman will look after them properly" I said. "Stop worrying, they'll be fine. You always make a fuss", said the hubby. Guess who was right?
Spent the evening cleaning out the guinea pigs, they hadn't been cleaned and the sawdust was wet and rancid and their little feet were almost raw! As for the chickens, they hadn't been let out of their pen all week and though it is big enough for them, they were chomping at the bit to get out. There was a DRIBBLE of water there and they hadn't been cleaned out either but worst of all was the three soft shelled eggs splattered over the coop floor and just left. The flies were everywhere. She had also been standing outside and throwing the corn at them because that was everywhere too! It wasn't as though she was afraid to go into them, she managed to collect and eat all the eggs! She was paid a lot of money to look after things while we were away, She will NOT be returning!!
So the evening was spent cleaning and swearing and giving the hubby black looks.
At least no one is too worse for wear and they LOVED coming out and spent today gobbling up ants :D
Don't think they've tasted the eggs either, thank goodness. Don't think I'm EVER going away again!!!

Sorry you came home to find things as they were :(

If she works for a company I'd make a complaint about her. And if she is self employed I'd also consider making a complaint to her directly.

I have the same problem here. I dare not go away because you can't rely on many people... However that said, the mother in law does a fantastic job if she looks after them.

Sorry to hear about this - I hope you can get things straight and make it up to them ;)

Oh dear, what a home coming for you. Its a worry for all of us who have pets but I think you experienced our worst nightmare. Its shocking when someone in a position of responsibility getting paid to do a job lets you down. Hope its sorting itself out now & the girls are happy you're home!
