I've been in temporary employment covering maternity leave. I started on 2nd July 2018 and my contract ends on 15th Feb 2019. Notice was given on Tuesday 15th Jan.

Holiday entitlement is 22 days PLUS Bank Holidays. It runs from 1st March to 28th Feb.

I've taken 7.5 day's holidays so far. Could anyone tell me how many days holiday entitlement I have left please, as the government website only assumes 20 days annual leave.

That’s. A question. It takes me back to my days as a trade union steward. That was for Unison the public sector union. With different employers there is some flexibility about how holiday entitlement is accrued.
However in the public sector only whole months count. So in your case neither July or February would be included. So Aug - Jan count which is six months. Therefore 6/12 x 22 equals 11 days ie you have 3.5 days left to take or, by mutual agreement, as extra pay on completion of your employment.
But all this was 10 years ago when I retired. I have no knowledge of current rules and conventions.
 
Thanks HenGen. I do know that july and part Feb is included and that legally, if for instance it was 1.8 days left, they would have to round it off to 2. Knowing that, what would you now say I'm entitled to?

I have assumed that you have taken all 4 days Bank Holiday leave you are entitled to and that these days are NOT included in the 7.5 days.

So if you have been working for 6 and a half months (Monday 2nd July to 15th Feb) the total is 14.3 days. You have taken 7.5 days which leaves 6.8 days (rounded up to 7 days). If they round up your leave entitlement before deducting the leave taken, then this figure might be different but it won't be less than 7 days.

Now I'm confused! Just found this on the internet https://www.gov.uk/calculate-your-holiday-entitlement

This gave me a higher figure both for your employment and someone working full time, 5 days a week. It's multiple choice questions which are quite easy but the final figure will depend on whether your contract is for 5 days a week (which I assumed), or the number of hours in a week.

Have a go and see what you come up with!

Sorry I have been away again (not literally). Thanks for your info. In the end, it equated to 2.5 days remaining. The dates were 2nd July to 13th Feb. :-)

I did spend some time working it all out for you & posting a reply, but the forum decided to ditch my message into nowhere & I didn't have the heart to do it all again.

It's done the same to me this evening on a different thread. Guess I'll give up & just lurk in the forum for a while.

I expect you're clucking on Post Reply, Icemaiden, - this deletes the post. You need to click on Submit to send a message.
Whilst next lurking, why not try a little reply to this post? Just say Got it! And click on SUBMIT, and see what happens?

P.S it was the autospeller that produced the typo in the first sentence, but I thought it was funny, so I left it in.
 
Something else that can happen is the connection to the server timing out through inactivity while typing. If your writing a long post you can copy what you've written to the clipboard so if it gets lost in limbo you can just refresh the connection (log in etc) and then paste.
 
Or you can save your message as a draft, then recover it from your personal profile later. Click on Full Editor and you'll get an option to Save draft under the message box.
Probably safer and easier to do as Rick suggests, though, as then you can recover it it if something still goes wrong, (ie, if you still click on Post Reply instead of Submit.)
Or just train yourself to click on Submit .....
