Hi
I have made a homemade Incubator out of an old polystyrene box 3 weeks ago and the eggs are doing fine and they are expected to hatch 19/02/2013,
I have candled them and 7 out of 12 are evolving lovely with good sized embryos(5 removed)
The problem i have got is that while i have been turning the eggs small pieces of polystyrene have fallen into the Incubator,

1) Can i hoover inside the incubator with the pipe or will the noise affect the hatching eggs?

I would hate to come this far with my project for the chocks to peck at the polystyrene balls.

Cheers in advance

A bit of noise shouldn't hurt too much but you could try wrapping sellotape around your hand sticky side out and dab it around the box to pick the bits up

Great idea Watson. I'd be concerned more about contamination than noise Rockgoblin. We have a radio by the incubator which we leave switched on during the hatching stage and right through to going outside. They seem to thrive on Classical music, otherwise we wouldn't bother.

They'd do better in Swan Lake - but personally I prefer the (human) male swans, all those gorgeous rippling muscles!

I have to say I concur with Margaid..cough..cough.. :D

Back on thread, what a good idea from Watson. Good luck with your hatch Rockgoblin, please keep us posted!
