Hi everybody,

Just wanted to briefly introduce myself as a new forumer and chicken-mad person!
I have kept chickens and geese for 9 years. I have about 30 birds at the moment some hybrids for eggs and several pure breeds too.

I love every aspect of the hobby and have just started breeding chickens this year.

I'm ready to share some of my experience and dying to learn more too!

Look forward to your responses.

Sorry - pressed button before I'd finished. What breeds do you have?

Hi there,

At the moment I have Exchequer Leghorns, Welsummers, Orpingtons, C.C. Legbars, an elderly black arucana and a mob of hybrids. I also have 4 embden 'type' geese which I keep as pets (!).

The trouble is I keep seeing (and liking) other breeds, so the collection is constantly growing and changing.
Perhaps a sign of a true chicken adict! Now I've stubbled on this fab forum, I'm glad to discover I'm not the only one.

What breeds do you keep?

Hi Hippie Chick,

welcome to the best chicken forum,we are all chicken addicts on here :D and it will be good to have another like minded person to share experiences with.

Yes, this forum is great fun as well as being invaluable - it's amazing how just by listening to others our poultry numbers, and range of breeds just keeps increasing!! :o

I now have orpingtons, barnvelder, maran, couple of unknown hybrids , soon to have silkies, salmon faverolles, and brahmas ( in the spring) I also have 2 embden geese as pets ( yes - !! - is right)3 turkeys, 5 call ducks, 2 aylesburys, 2 muscovies and next spring want 2 silver appleyard and 2 pilgrim geese. Added to that i have many, many domestic and farm animals - all pets! :D

I also live in Oxfordshire - not many of us I don't think.

Hello
Welcome aboard!

I keep finding different breeds I'd like to have too!
I've got 5 Welsummers and 2 Pekins just now. I'm planning on rescuing some ex batts in the spring. I'd also like some Icelandic hens, more bantams and some emus.

Welcome Hippie Chick.

Nice to have you on board. I have to keep telling myself NO MORE Chickens. But it's hard. Sometimes I just forget.

See you in the forum :D
