Newbie - Chicken coop and run advice please?!

Glad you got them home.
We had a problem a couple of weeks ago, we were blocked for a day or two. Then it was ok. We did a full system scan on the computer and everything was ok. We just put it down to a phone glitch

They’re settling in great, already have their own distinct personalities :D The Swedish Flowers make some funny noises, especially at dusk lol
Oh, and yeah, lots of poo

You will be such a poo expert, amazing how much they produce. Glad all is going well :-)08

If you haven't already, start a compost heap. Chicken poo makes fantastic compost!

Especially mixed with grass clippings. The dry bedding takes up the moisture content of the grass and aerates it, so it heats up without going slimy.

The girls are settling in well, looking forward to seeing the adult plumage of the Swedish Flowers ?

Hi all,

Hope we're all well.
I have posted a topic in the 'Chickens For Sale or Wanted' section if anyone is interested in rehoming my hens or buying my coop / run.

Many thanks

Gareth

Oh dear, Gareth, I’m so sorry your circumstances have changed. We were all very interested in your journey to getting your hens and they look lovely birds. I hope you and your family are OK, and that you’ll find a solution to your problems. You’ve put so much hard work into making the setup and launching out into chicken keeping, that it’s worrying to hear your news today. Do please let us know how you get on - we are a sort of family on here, although most of us never get to meet in person.

Thanks Marigold,

I do love my hens, they are a calming influence on me, My Black Rock, Camilla, loves to sit on my shoulder when I'm poo-picking and one of my Swedish Flowers, Margaret, is very tame and chatty! They have great characters.
I have invested a lot of money into my setup but I'm only really interested in making sure my girls have a good, spacious new home. I know I will not be able to recoup the costs but that's fine, I'll put it down to experience.
The breeder said she'd take them back in once lockdown is over but I imagine they will have less space until she finds them a home and I have someone who can only take 2 of them but I do not really want to do that.

Thank you so much for your help and guidance.

Gareth
