Hi everyone,I'm a newbie,just joined today.
I live in Canterbury in Kent, and I've been keeping chickens and ducks for a few years now.I have Brahmas,Orpingtons,Light Sussex,Skylines,Barnevelders, and some rescue hens as well as ten ducks.Last year we incubated our own eggs and hatched six brahmas and two ducks. At the moment ( second time lucky I hope ! ) we are incubating six double laced Barnevelders and six Silver laced Barnevelders, these were hatching eggs sent through Royal mail.Ready to candle first six on Saturday (day 10 ).I worry like an expectant mother.I will have many questions to ask you all,and can't wait to tell you all about my ever increasing flock.

Hi Jackie, a big welcome to the Forum. It sounds as if you've got a lot of experience to contribute. I hope the hatch goes well, and that you'll post some pics of the chicks for us to see.

Hi Jackie, welcome Aboard! My wife and I are new to chickens and this forum, there are a lot of knowledgeable people here that have been a great deal of help. Look forward to hearing from you.

Hi Jackie57 and welcome to the forum. Good luck with the hatch, it's always an exciting time for us. Something we will be doing later in the year once we have our enclosure better arranged for new arrivals. Our flocks are getting old and this year may be our last chance to keep them going.

You're highly welcome. Feel free to seek advice here and also share from your knowledge.

Hi everyone,
A big thanks for the great welcome to the forum. I'm sure that I'll have plenty of questions as I'm hatching in an incubator at the moment. We have one chick so far, five more to go (I hope). We have another six to hatch on Saturday (all Barnevelders). There seems to be no sign of pipping yet,and believe me,I look through the incubator every time I go past. I know they can't be rushed, but I wish they would get a move on. My cries for help will probably come in the early hours of the morning. Our first grandchild is due next month, so I suppose this is good practice.

MUCH more stressful, to be hatching six of your own babies, than to let someone else do the work of just producing one!
(Seriously though, good luck with both hatches. I know what each is like!)
