Hi all,
we recently got three beautiful Khaki Campbell's (well one is a Dark Campbell), and would like to know when we should let them out of the house/run to free range in our garden? We got them on Sunday afternoon and today being tuesday, they all seem to be used to us now and we would love to let them have range of the garden but don't want to spook them or anything. The breeder suggested Saturday - but would we be ok to let them out sooner like tomorrow or something? Also when we do come to let them out, should we just give them their food in the evening before bed or stick to giving it during morning for them to have throughout day?
We were thinking about maybe giving it to them just in the evenings and then we they come out it should encourage them to go home to sleep rather than having problems with getting them to bed. pr is this not usually a worry with Campbells as much as it can be with other breeds?
Also with regards to grit - is it possible to feed duck and chicken eggs back to ducks or is this just advisable for chickens? what grit should be used? I heard somewhere that oyster shell should be avoided for ducks is this true?
The ducks are 18 weeks by the way. Is this still cosidered duckling - what age do they turn 'adult'?
Thanks in advance.
