HI,

I've finally got my new incy after lots and lots of questions - thanks everyone for you help and it being held up with the volcanic ash it has finally arrived.

I bought in the end a R-com King Suro 20.

I am just starting to set it up and it has a sponge pad which I have to cut either the larger size for over 60% Humidity or the smaller size for 50% or less. Help which size do I do?

Any help / advice gratefully received.

Sounds to me that the small sponge wil lbe for incubating and the big one for hatching . Should say in the instructions.

HI

Unfortunately that would make sense but it is one sheet that you cut to either the larger size of the smaller size.

I think I may cut it to the larger size and then hope the settings keep it on the lower level for the incubation but will have the bigger size to increase the humidity for the hatching.

Thanks for you help.

Maybe someone on this forum has the same incubator and can say what they have done.

Thanks again,

Lydia

Hello, i would use the smaller bit- too high humidity causes more problems than low humidity- then you can increase humidity on pipping.
regards, David :)

HI I've cut it to the larger size and had it running all day.

It is reading at the moment 43% so I will see what happens over night.

I'm going to have to wait a bit longer before I can put the eggs in as most of what I had ready in the dinning room my twins who are just over two found them and dropped two of the three boxes so I have four eggs left and what is laid today so will now be after the weekend

Well looking on the bright side it gives me a bit longer letting the incy stabilize.

I'll let everyone know what happens,

Thanks again,

Greenhen

Just beware as the humidity may go up when you put eggs in - a certain amount of moisture comes from the eggs themselves - as David said it may have been better to cut the small size for the incubation. Perhaps measure humidity when the eggs are in and have the small one ready incase it gets too high. It's nt good to incubate on high humidity but you will need it when hatching from day 18 onwards.

Thanks for the advice.

The sponge is bone dry except a very small circle only about teh size of a pen lid is damp which is where the small drop is landing when the pump has been on which I have only seen once when I hadn't put the lid on properly and the humidity dropped too low.

It has been remaining quite stable even while I was cooking pancakes on Saturday which I thought would be a good test,

Hopefully we will have enough eggs saved up in the next few days to set it running properly.

Will keep you all informed,

Greenhen
