Hi I have just bought a Brinsea Octagon 20 eco. I bought the wrong one, as I was hoping to have the model with the digital humidity in it. I have done several hatchings via incubator, but my one problem is i worry about the humidity. Does anyone else have this model and if so how do they deal with the humidy levels. I have the info supplied but it doesn't offer much help.

Many thanks

I have a brinsea eco, not an octagon 20 though.
Does your incubator have two compartments? The instructions on mine say to fill one compartment with water for 19 days, but 2 days before hatching is due fill the other compartment as well.

I have had both - I ignored the instructions and put no water in at all - and tan them dry until the 19th day or when they started pipping - then put up the himidity to 50% (this is what I use up here in wet scotland) - get yourself an inexpensive hydrometer that will help you keep right :-)17

Hydrometer is a good idea, not so sure about the running dry though, the humidity resembles the hens natural moisture!

I run my incubators dry too til day 18 or 19 and have had far better hatch rates this year was getting a lot of dis previously. Even when incubator is run dry in my house - dry humidity in the incubator is between 29% and 32% - so not dry :)
