Hi, my name is Nova. I have had chickens going on two years now. Mostly I have mutt birds with a few pure breds. My pures are Salmon Faverolles, Silkies, Seremas, New Hamps, and one bantam splash cochin. My other birds are a motley mix of the other. Just not the Seremas. They are fairly recent addition.
I live in Holland Michigan, just off of Lake Michigan. I have 2 kids, 2 dogs, 3 cats, and 1 fish. My mum lives with me. I am sucker for punishment. Um, lets see... I also use other forums, but am always looking for new people with different experiences and different solutions. Hope this can be one of those places.

Welcome to the forum NovaAman. Lots of people worldwide here. I really love the expression 'mutt birds'. In England they are called crossbreeds. Some crossbreeds are deliberate to improve commercial performance and are referred to as 'hybrids'. Salmon Faverolles are on my want list. Just finding somewhere big enough to take all our wants.

Hi NovaAman and a big welcome to the Forum. Yes, we too love to hear from chicken keepers in different parts of the world than the UK, we now have quite a spread across the continents. It's especially good to hear about how climate and local conditions affect the ways people keep their birds - it's a good thing chickens are so adaptable. Faverolles are a big favourite in here , one of our moderators, Foxy, breeds them and several people have caught the bug from her. So any pics you would like to post will be interesting.
