Hi,
Just had to post a picture of my new arrivals,( I'm sorry it is not a great photo) there are 3 white chinese goslings and 1 african gosling, I am soooo proud of them, I managed to hatch 5 chinese and 4 african goslings. ( will try and get a photo of them all, soon) I have the parents of the chinese, and my first setting of eggs was a disaster all but 1 of them failed to hatch and then that one died, so I didn't hold out much hope for the next batch, the african eggs were bought at auction, I started with 10 in the incubator 3 were not fertile and three died in the shell, so I am highly delighted with the outcome.
I just love these goslings. :D :D :D :D

They look beautiful Sue. What is the adults temprament like are they reasonably friendly?

Tim

Hi Tim,
They are quite friendly, they are not at all aggressive, the gander has only ever hissed at me when his lady was busy laying an egg, they are not hand tame, but will come to within a metre of you if you feed them bread, they are the friendliest geese I have ever had, the geese I have had in the past the ganders have been quite lethal during the breeding season.

That's great. I must admit, I do like Chinese, it's the long swan neck that looks great. I'm still waiting for my Geese and really hope that I will get them this year and next.

I'm trying to get some Brecon Buff from Chris and Mike Ashton and some Tufted American Buff from the States - but I have to wait 7 months now for the Salmonella tests to be clear before we can even start thinking about importing...

Would there be any chance of me using the photo of your White Chinese in our Chinese Geese section? If you scroll down you will see a link to a page we have of Grey Chinese photos but not photos of White Chinese Geese. I would add 'Photo courtesy of...' underneath your photo.

Thanks, Tim

Hi Tim,
They are very swan like, and very graceful in the way they move, compared to some other breeds of geese.
Yes of course you can use the photo.

Hi,
The goslings have just enjoyed their first day of freedom in their enclosure, they have been going outside for the last week, but have been in a broody coop, they were so funny running around, flapping their tiny little wings, could be fun and games tonight when they have to go back in the coop.

Hi,
The goslings are just over 7 weeks old now, I had to let them out of their safe enclosure as every single blade of grass had been eaten, I was worried that the adult chinese geese might see them as intruders on their patch and have a go at them, how wrong was I, :D they took to them immediately, and for a couple of nights I took my life in my hands trying to separate them at bedtime, the goose was very upset when I split them off, so after that, they all went into the same hut, the geese are happy I'm not taking their babies from them and I'm happy I'm not being hissed and flapped at.
