Hi,

They are lovely, with some very attractive markings and they all look so alert. Well done, 19 seems impressive. :-)08

They are beautiful, what breed are they? You will have your hands full with 19 babies!

Yea I didnt expect the hatch to go so well its only a cheap incubator off ebay for 30 quid, a polystyrene box with thermostat so I decided I would put the max possible eggs and yea thats the result! Some of the chicks are maran X leghorn (both black and red) and some are maran X orpington. Although my orps are not pure bred they are a hybrid of some sort but not sure what (we bought them to eat). So I did have a brooder set up in the chicken coop which housed my last lot of chicks but there were only 5 so the brooder is not big enough! I will be getting straw to make a new much bigger one at the weekend and fingers crossed I will have my first bantam X maran chick on Monday and thats the last hatch I will do for a long time! :D

Thats a really good hatch rate! £30 incubator a bargain! :-)17 :-)08
Lovely chicks as well, I must admit I do like the suprises of "allsorts" :D

Hey great news my bantie egg hatched! So pleased and he/she is so small! So that's 20 hatched out of 26!! I will post a pic soon :-) x

They are SOOOOOOOOO cute! I have one of those e bay polystyrene boxes---I get best hatch rates using it (well second to broody hens) .Ros

He is very sweet! I would love to have some ducks and little ducklings, I'm sure I will in time when I get settled somewhere, as I have only been in France 6 months and don't want to have to move too many animals if we move to another area. Already got enough at the moment with 2 horses, one pregnant ewe although hopefully will have the lambs soon, 40 chickens, I cat and one big dog. Love it though, having all these guys and wouldn't change it for the world! :-)

I have only used mine once but it is definately worth the money for the size incubator, especially if it's just a hobby. My first chicks were incubated in a cardboard box with a lightbulb and it's so very difficult to keep the right temp and I could never get the humidity high enough. This one just make it much easier and like I said I got 20 out of 26. So yes I'm very happy with it! X
