They are so inquisitive and so un-afraid!..Can't really keep them away! They have the full veg plot every weekend and the run when we're not there (but we're in the process of extending that)
But if they can get out they will...they will happily hop, skip, climb and jump to wherever they want if they think they are missing out!!!

Hello animartco, they are all hybrids and they are a light sussex, a black rock/rhode rock and the cuckoo one is a barred rock (at least this is what we've been told!)...love them to bits already!

looks good. Judging by the timber joists you're laying, looks as though you are extending further.
I'll see if I can attach photos, I fixed wheels to the heavy end and a haul rope to the other.
I've now taken off the wheels for it's winter position and added 'deep litter'

Derculees, the coop is a wannabe 'cocoon' and isn't as big as your coop! I'm hoping it's going to go the distance, so far all good, no leaks, and seems pretty sturdy. Hubby built the run extension which is going to be extended again eventually but I think the joists you see are the outlines for the veg plots (I know, I know, chickens...veg plots...bad idea??) We're going to trial it as its' the most suitable place for both and to be honest I'm never going to be a prize growing veg gardener - as long we can protect the tender shoots long enough for them to establish and grow enough for them AND us...? Well that's the plan!
I like the idea of the wheels and being able to move it around but we've now dug ours into the ground so that the coop and run are fairly well secure as we are both out at work in the week and can't keep an eye out for foxes!
I like the boards around the edge of yours - we're going to try something similar to protect the underneath area from getting too wet with the bad weather and hopefully provide them with a bath area.
Love seeing other peoples set ups!! :mrgreen:

You can pick up really useful tips and ideas when you visit other peoples chickens. Same when you buy an old chicken book -just one useful tip pays for the book. Went to see a couple who had experimented with different run coverings. Settled on scaffolding covering, which is a very heavily reinforced clear plastic. You don't need mesh under it , it is completely waterproof and gives about 40% shade. As our runs are moved it took a lot of weight out of them. We now use it everywhere. Not the best looking stuff but it does the job.

Sounds good! We're going to use clear corrugated plastic, so far we have 8ft sheets so should be a challege for husband when it comes to cutting it, as our run isn't portable weight isn't an issue but we're going to make the covers easy to remove so that if we get a sunny day the girls can still enjoy it.
PS By 'we' I mean the royal we...I'm feeder and coop cleaner rather than engineer!

As one Engineer to another I use a fine toothed wood hand saw. Brand new and razor sharp is best and it goes through like a hot knife in butter. Just need a sharp edge to remove the burrs afterwards.

Although there is a deliberate mistake Chicken in Welsh is actually Cyw Iar (with a little ^ above the a) - 'cuwiar' is a silly joke back from when I was in school and learning Welsh first time round. 17 Will try and sort a good pic for my avatar - now that I'm getting more into this forum than I first realised!!!
