I have 5 call ducks and they won't use my pond. It is about 4ft deep and 6ft by 15ft across. They are very happy to sit in a washing up bowl with water in it rather than use the pond. Does anyone have any idea what i might be doing wrong, the pond cost us a fortune to construct and it all seems like a waste of money at the moment.
Many thanks. :?

Can't really help. Is the water clean? Do you then have it through a fountain or some such to help keep it clean?

Maybe take the bucket away from them for a few days? Does the water in both come from a tap or stream/spring?

Have you given them long enough to get used to it? Is there a slope to get in and out? - You could try to put some wheat in the water (on the slope) so they are encouraged to dabble there...

Like a duck to water they say don't they?? :?

Thanks for the advice.

Did a few alterations to the slopes and took away their washing up bowl/bucket and now they are happily swimming away. Think the lost Muscovy we have adopted may have done the trick as well. :D
