Hello!

I'm afraid since I joined this forum, i haven't stopped with my questions and dilemmas. So much so I haven't had chance to say 'hello' until now!

I think as a new poultry keeper (and having read many books/websites/articles on keeping chickens) I think I've been guilty of seeing every illness I've read about  . I recently qualified as a teacher and so have been able to spend the summer with the chickens which has been a blessing, but perhaps a bit of a double edged sword - I'm checking them constantly.

So I will from now on just try and enjoy them and try not to worry too much about every little thing. Thank you so much for your wonderful advice and inexhaustible patience!

Hi Charlie,

Yes, hello again and welcome to the forum. There's no problem asking questions. I'm pleased you are enjoying your chickens :D

Have fun and it's good to have you join the forum.

Hello, don't worry about the questions, that's a normal part of the forum- sharing and passing on information gained from experience
Most novices do suffer from "new keeper syndrome"  It's all perfectly normal- glad you find the forum useful and it's good to have somewhere to ask about your worries :)
regards, David :)

Hi Charlie,

You'll get such pleasure from your chooks & this forum is great! Enjoy your new hobby, its very addictive

Hello everyone!

Thank you for the lovely comments. I do love my girls, so much so I can't believe I've never kept them until now. I am officially a chicken bore, but proud to be so! :D

Our girls are minor celebrities at the moment and I'm pleased to say we're not the only ones who love them. We live on a National Trust site and because our hedge died over the winter, the chickens in our garden are now on show to the public visiting the more formal garden. People love them and I've been doing my bit to spend the word about how wonderful they are to keep (though maybe a little stressful at first ;) !). People are really interested and its great to see.

Thanks again for the advice and comments - I'm really happy to have joined this forum.
